Dandy: A man unduly devoted to style, neatness and fashion in dress and appearance.
The ARD exhibit at the Rhode Island School of Design’s Museum of Art documented the continuing global impact that the dandy has had throughout history. The dandy is the epitome of clothing, identity and creativity. The exhibit celebrated individual dandies around the world like Oscar Wilde, Fred Astaire and Richard Merkin through both personal ensemble and visual representation, depicting him as an international figure. The exhibit traced the variety of ways in which the dandy has developed through two centuries and investigated where he stands today.
